The purpose of the workshop is to support researchers with their grant applications, offering tips and advice on how to write a successful application, to increase the strength and competitiveness of applications.

The program will include presentations on key components of the grant application, delivered by experienced researchers, previous successful recipients and grant administrators, and will feature a Q&A panel of experienced reviewers.

Pitching sessions will be offered online in the weeks following the Workshop via Microsoft Teams. The pitching sessions are designed for researchers to receive feedback on their proposed research project by ‘pitching’ their project to a panel of senior researchers. Participation in a pitching session is optional and is a confidential opportunity to pitch your grant proposal to an expert panel for feedback.

Optional pitching session registration
Pitching sessions are designed for researchers to receive feedback on their proposed research project by ‘pitching’ their project to a panel of senior researchers.
Participation in a pitching session is optional and is a confidential opportunity to pitch your grant proposal to an expert panel for feedback.

To take part in a pitching session, you will be required to prepare a project summary (a template will be provided) and submit together with your 2-page CV, one week prior to your scheduled pitching session.

Each session will have allocated a maximum of 5 pitches. Each pitch will be no more than 20 minutes - 10 minutes for your pitch and 10 minutes for reviewer feedback.

You will be required to prepare and deliver your pitch with a maximum of 3 PowerPoint slides (specific guidelines for slides to be provided upon confirmation).

The review panel will consist of senior researchers who are experienced in reviewing NSW Health and/or national competitive grant applications. Reviewers have been grouped together based on research area (clinical/public health or basic/biomedical) as indicated below.

All information submitted prior to the pitching session and all discussions with the review panel will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Please note: the NSW CVRN Team will send you a confirmation email with your allocated 20 minute timeslot, project summary form template and specific requirements for your PowerPoint slides.
